Our Story
The idea for Aprann took root in the fall of 2019, though its foundation had been quietly forming in the years before. Vince and Megan Rogers had long felt a calling toward international adoption, and by that time, they believed they were in a stable place to take the next step. After a season of prayer, research, and conversations with an agency in Colorado, they chose to pursue adoption from Haiti. With a heart to adopt a sibling pair, they entered the program and began the long journey of home studies, dossier preparation, training, and—eventually—the long waiting period.
That waiting period became a time of deeper learning about Haiti, its people, and more specifically, the landscape of orphan care and adoption. They were heartbroken to discover that most children in Haitian orphanages are not true orphans, but "poverty orphans"—children with at least one living parent who, due to extreme hardship, misinformation, or coercion, felt they had no choice but to give up their child. As they learned more, their hearts turned not only toward the children, but also to the families and systemic issues that led to such painful separations.
During that season, Vince traveled to Haiti with a missions team and experienced firsthand both the richness of the culture and the challenges the country faces. Part of the trip involved providing technology support, planting early seeds for what would become Aprann's core mission.
In late 2020, after much prayer and soul-searching, Vince and Megan made the painful decision to withdraw from the adoption process. They couldn't move forward with full confidence that it was the right path. Still, they felt certain that God had used that journey to call them into a deeper investment in Haiti—with a new vision focused on education and skills training as a means to address the root causes of poverty and family separation.
Out of that season of heartbreak, growth, and renewed purpose, Vince began building relationships with established nonprofits working in Haiti. He quickly saw ways his background in software and technology could support and strengthen their work. Those early partnerships shaped the foundation for Aprann's current programs and services.
